FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Book your consultationHow long does it take to process Temporary or Permanent Residency?
Processing times vary depending on the application route (family unity, job offer, financial solvency, or investment) and the workload at the National Institute of Migration (INM) offices. Immigration law and policy also change constantly, so resolution times may vary. During your first consultation, we will provide an estimate based on your specific case.
If I enter Mexico as a tourist, can I change my status to resident while in the country?
Yes, under certain circumstances provided by the Migration Law, exclusively in family-unity cases (marriage to or children who are Mexican citizens). You cannot change your status based on a job offer while in Mexico; in those cases, you must leave Mexico and complete the procedure from abroad. We will assess your current situation to determine the appropriate legal route before starting.
What happens if my application or visa was previously denied?
A previous denial does not prevent you from applying for a visa or residency again, but it requires a thorough technical review of the reasons for denial. We analyze the authority’s observations to address any errors, restructure the legal documentation, and submit a new application with strong prospects of success.
What are the key requirements for an Investment Visa in Mexico?
To qualify for a stay based on investment, you must prove to the immigration or consular authority that you hold equity in a Mexican company or own assets in the country that meet the minimum amounts established in the applicable Guidelines.
Is my company required to register with the National Registry of Foreign Investments (RNIE)?
Yes. Mexican companies with foreign capital participation in their shareholding are legally required to register with the RNIE and file periodic reports. Failure to register may result in administrative penalties and fines. Our firm can help keep your company in full regulatory compliance.
What does my company in Mexico need to hire foreign personnel?
Your company must obtain the Employer Registration Certificate (CIE), issued by the INM. This document confirms that the company is legally incorporated, formally operating, and meeting its tax and labor obligations. We handle both the initial application and annual renewal.
